About Astra, the author

I started my first business when I was just 28. I’d been working in high-pressure, fast-paced marketing agencies for a couple of years and the office environments were, to say the least, unpleasant: hard work, long days, controlling leadership. I knew it was time to go - but it wasn't until I'd seen how much the agency was getting from clients for just an hour of my time, compared to my own salary, that I felt frustrated enough to take the leap!

 

I established myself quickly and was able to charge twice the rate I’d been paid at the agency. I was sure I was doing really well. But my journey with money had only just begun.

 

I had to face a lot of fears and shame around money, so many subconscious messages about what a ‘good’ salary was - even worries about earning more than other people and that being ‘unfair’.

 

Through this process I recognised there are challenges we all have which stop us from thinking clearly about the best ways to price our offerings. We get tangled up in negative feelings and limiting beliefs, and it stops us from making meaningful decisions which ensure the financial health of our endeavours. But there are ways to charge what you’re worth, stay true to your values, and feel confident in your prices.
