code of conduct

This code of conduct applies to the private online forum for the Soul Messages membership. By subscribing to the service and holding an account on the online community, you agree to this code of conduct.

1. Respectful Communication

All Soul Messages community members are here for the same reason: calm + connection. Our expectation is that communication will be supportive and positive.

To this end, discrimination, harassment, or hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated. Any community member who is seen to or reported as sharing content of this nature will have their subscription to the Soul Messages membership and forum access suspended while the incident is investigated.

2. Trauma Aware Interactions

As a trauma-informed service, it’s important for us that we maintain a psychologically-safe environment within our online forum. However, we do not wish to eradicate discussions that could potentially cause upset or trigger a trauma response as these discussions may be much needed and healing. Instead, we expect all community members to maintain their own emotional and psychological wellbeing, recognising that the Soul Messages membership forum is not a therapeutic space and to share their perspectives accordingly.

Instead we ask all community members to consider these questions posting or responding to posts in the forum:

Is there a way to offer a trigger warning or a disclaimer if this information I am sharing might be difficult for some people to read?
Am I using a tone that is respectful and considerate of others' experiences?
Am I approaching this topic with empathy, understanding that others may have different experiences and triggers?
If someone expresses discomfort or hurt because of my post, am I prepared to listen, learn, and respond appropriately?

3. Privacy and Confidentiality

Our forum is private and only subscribers to the Soul Messages membership have access to it. However, there are some fundamental privacy principles of online communities that you should stick to.

Do not share personal information about yourself or others without consent. This includes in private messages, emails, and other private communications. Do not share identifiable personal data on the forum about yourself or others that could create a security risk.

Respect the confidentiality of the forum. Do not share forum discussions or member information outside of the forum without written permission from the members involved. This includes in the form of screenshots or images, as well as text. Do not share links to subscriber-only services outside of the forum, unless explicitly given permission by moderators.

4. Content Guidelines

We will provide you with post prompts to help you make the most of the community forum, and we hope you will create your own conversations that enrich and support you. You can participate in the Soul Messages membership online community as much or as little as you wish. There is no requirement to be active in the community or even have an account.

Please make sure to share content that is appropriate for the forum. Do not post content that is illegal, pornographic, or otherwise inappropriate. If you are unsure of the appropriateness of something you wish to share, email hello@higherlove.co and we can discuss it with you.

If you wish to share content which you believe may be upsetting for others in some way, or may generate a potential trauma response (see Section 2 above), then as a minimum use a relevant content warning at the beginning of your post. You may also wish to review the questions in Section 2 before sharing.

Do not post advertisements for your own services. Spamming and the sending of repetitive direct messages is prohibited and may be considered harassment.

Do not share copyrighted material unless you have permission or it falls under fair use. Always credit the original creator.

Do not engage in trolling or disruptive behaviour. This includes deliberately posting inflammatory, irrelevant, provocative or offensive comments.

The Soul Messages membership forum operates primarily in English. However, be aware that not all community members may have English as their first language or be confident in its use.

5. Reporting and Moderation

We have moderators in the community to ensure this code of conduct is adhered to. Moderators are available for:

Communication regarding any violation of any aspects of this code of conduct
Categorising content and discussions more effectively (e.g. moving posts to appropriate threads or closing threads)
Help and support to use the forum effectively

6. Violation of this Code of Conduct

Any community member who is seen to or reported as violating any aspect of this code of conduct will have their forum access suspended and an incident log will be opened. While the incident is investigated, the community member will not have access to the online forum.

As a result of investigation, a community member’s forum access will either be:

Re-instated after a warning or
Permanently removed

If a community member is reinstated after a complaint is made against them, the Soul Messages membership team will do their best to facilitate repairs between community members to ensure ongoing cohesion and emotional safety.

7. Amendments

We reserve the right to amend or update this code of conduct at any time. Members will be notified of significant changes, and continued participation in the forum constitutes acceptance of the updated rules.
